Explore the timeless art of Sashiko in this creative and calming workshop series that highlights two traditional Japanese stitching techniques: Moyozashi and/or Hitomezashi.
Each session focuses on two unique stitch patterns, allowing you to build skill and confidence as you go. You can register for individual sessions or all four. Those who sign up for the full series will have the option to create a beautiful, cohesive table runner using their stitched designs.
Workshop Breakdown:
Session 1: Moyozashi-style patterns 1 & 2
Session 2: Moyozashi-style patterns 3 & 4
Session 3: Hitomezashi-style patterns 1 & 2
Session 4: Hitomezashi-style patterns 3 & 4
This workshop is beginner-friendly—no prior sewing experience is required. Taught by Urooj Memon, each class offers a relaxed, supportive environment focused on creativity and mindful making.
Fabric Details:
Full Series Participants: Receive one larger piece of Essex Linen to bring to each session and assemble into a table runner.
Individual Class Participants: Receive two 10" x 10" square of Essex Linen per session.
What to Bring:
Small snips or scissors
A ruler to mark your grid
Sashiko thread, Sashiko needles, and a white fabric marking pen
Need supplies? We offer an optional kit that includes Sashiko thread, needles, and a white marking pen for $7.49. Please let us know in advance if you’d like one prepared.
