Join us for a 4-session garment sewing session featuring the Canvas Jacket by Wardrobe by Me.
The Canvas Jacket is a timeless chore-style jacket you'll reach for season after season. With its relaxed, boxy fit and clean lines, it's the perfect layering piece to wear over everything from t-shirts to sweaters. Classic details such as front button closures, patch pockets, a back yoke, two-piece sleeves with cuffs, and a traditional collar give this jacket a polished, ready-to-wear finish.
Designed for confident sewists looking to build their garment-making skills, this workshop will guide you through constructing a beautifully finished jacket while learning professional techniques for collars, cuffs, button plackets, patch pockets, and topstitching. By the end of the course, you'll leave with a versatile handmade jacket you'll be proud to wear for years to come.
Materials Required:
- Basic Sewing Kit (fabric scissors, seam ripper, tape measure, assorted hand sewing needles, straight pins with plastic heads, metal hemming gauge)
- Woven fabric suitable for jackets such as canvas, denim, twill, linen blends, corduroy, heavyweight cotton, or light-weight wool. Class participants receive 15% off regular-priced purchases. Excludes machine purchases.
Fabric Requirements (140cm / 55" wide):
- Sizes 30-36 (US 0-6): 1.5m (1.6yd)
- Sizes 38-40 (US 8-10): 1.6m (1.7yd)
- Sizes 42-46 (US 12-16): 1.8m (2yd)
- Sizes 48-50 (US 18-20): 2.0m (2.1yd)
- Sizes 52-54 (US 22-24): 2.2m (2.5yd)
Additional Supplies:
- 0.25m (¼yd) lightweight fusible interfacing
- Seven buttons (⅝"–¾" / 1.5–2cm)
- Matching thread
Important: Fabric must be prewashed and dried before the first class. Please stop by the shop to pick up your pattern before purchasing fabric so you can confirm your size and fabric requirements.
Please note that there are no makeup dates available for this workshop, so be sure you can attend each session.
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced (must have completed Sewing Basics Level 2 & 3, or equivalent experience).
