This pattern is fully customizable for any size of dog. We’re talking from a Chihuahua to a Newfoundlander in size. Heck, you could even make one for a hairless cat if you really wanted to.
Saying that, I’ve given you suggestions on what to size the pattern to based on your dog’s measurements, but you can modify and work with it however you want for different effects. You are not limited. Play around and decide on the fit you want for your dog’s coat although there are instructions guiding through creating a good fit with your dog's measurements.
This pattern was created in honour of the Beagle named Cuddles we had when I was growing up. She LOVED to get herself tucked under a quilt while using a pillow for her head. I’m still amazed that a dog who was so little could take up so much room in bed! I have no doubt that she would have loved a quilt she could wear around on colder days, especially in the last few years of her life. I’m sure she would have strutted her stuff going on a walk wearing one of these coats. And after making many versions of my Copenhagen Quilted Coat pattern (for humans), I thought a quilted dog coat could be a lot of fun.
