Come join the fun with our Sewing Basics class, designed for kids ages 9–12 who love to create! In our sewing studio, students will learn how to safely use a sewing machine, choose fabrics, and master essential sewing skills—including some hand-sewing—while building confidence and creativity.
Throughout the class, students will complete hands-on projects and go home with items they’ve made themselves, ready to proudly show off their new skills!
What will you learn?
- How to safely cut fabric
- Basic stitches (by hand and machine)
- What a seam allowance is and its importance
- The Burrito method
- Plus many more helpful sewing tips and tricks!
Projects may include things like:
- A pillowcase (using the burrito method)
- Pin chickens
- Scrunchies
- And more fun beginner projects!

What to Bring
Students will need to bring a basic sewing kit, including:
- Fabric scissors (have never cut paper)
- Pins
- Measuring tape
- Seam ripper
- Hem gauge
- Hand sewing needles
We sell complete sewing kits for $34.95+HST. Please indicate in the NOTES at registration if you require one.

- Children must have turned 9 before the start of the class.
- If the weather is wet, please bring indoor shoes if possible.
