6 Week Duration. Suitable for the beginner quilter who has operated a sewing machine before (Basic operations like threading a machine, wind bobbin, select stitches, change the needle) or has completed Sewing Basics Level 1.
New to sewing or unfamiliar with modern sewing machines? Join Quilting With Catherine to ensure you're comfortable and confident before joining this class.
We will be completing the lap size quilt.
Highway 10 Designs' "Not Your Mother's Rail Fence" pattern is great for the new quilter to learn the foundational skills of accurate cutting, piecing, assembling the blocks, adding borders, layering and machine quilting. More experienced quilters will be delighted at the speed in which these modern designs come together.
The pattern is included with your class fee.
The following will be taught during class:
Week 1 - Cutting and Piecing
Week 2 - Assembling the blocks
Week 3 - Adding borders
Week 4 - Layering preparing binding
Week 5 - Machine Quilting
Week 6 - Binding
You will need to bring to class:
- Rotary cutter
- 6" x 24" or 6.5" x 24" ruler
- Seam Ripper
- Coordinating thread
Fabrics (stop by the shop to pick up your book and we will review the fabric requirements with you. We have several curated bundles you can choose from for your quilt.) The price of the class includes the pattern.

Homework must be done between classes. If you do not have access to a sewing machine, you can book time in our classroom for $15 per hour.
There are no makeup classes scheduled for this workshop. Please ensure you are able to come to each one.
