4 Week Duration. Suitable for a beginner quilter who has operated a sewing machine before (Basic operations like threading a machine, wind bobbin, select stitches, change the needle).

Never quilted before, but can sew a straight line with consistent seam allowance? Come on out and join us for this class, that looks advanced but is deceptively simple to make. It's a wowser pattern.

The following will be taught during class:

How to organizing strips in the correct sequence.
Piecing fabric strips into "strip sets."
Pressing seams for accuracy and ease of sewing.
Cutting strip sets into sub-strips for pattern creation.
Arranging sub-strips to form the Bargello pattern.
Adjusting for seamless pattern flow.
Strategies for keeping strips organized during sewing.
Sewing sub-strips together while matching seams precisely.
Troubleshooting common alignment issues, and
Adding borders or sashing.

You will need to bring to class:

Rotary cutter
6" x 24" or 6.5" x 24" ruler
Seam Ripper
Coordinating thread
Fabrics - 20 fat quarters

Or bring 3 co-ordinating paint chips of different colours to the store by end of day October 31st and choose one fabric you love, and we'll have a mystery kit built uniquely for you by the instructor and ready for your first class.

Homework must be done between classes. If you do not have access to a sewing machine, you can book time in our classroom for $15 per hour.

There are no makeup classes scheduled for this workshop. Please ensure you are able to come to each one.

Class Policy

Class Reminders: We do not send reminders, so please mark your calendar when you register. All classes are located on The Sewing Cafe premises at 118 Mill St., Georgetown, Ontario.

Class Cancellations: If we must cancel a class due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund of all fees paid and we will notify you as soon as possible.

Missed Classes:

Please ensure you can attend all classes in your session, as makeup classes are not offered and refunds are not provided for a missed class.

If you know in advance of your registration that you cannot make a class, sometimes with advanced notice we can make an exception. This isn’t always possible and needs to be arranged prior to your registration.

Refund Policy: Due to our limited class sizes, we kindly request that any cancellations be made with at least two weeks' notice before the scheduled class start date. This ensures we have the opportunity to offer your spot to another student.

Full Refund: A full refund will be provided if cancellation is made at least two weeks before the class start date.
Store Credit: If cancellation is made between two weeks and 48 hours before the class, we will apply a store credit to your account for use toward any future class.
Last-Minute Cancellations: For cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance, payment will be forfeited unless we can fill your spot. While we will make every effort to do so, we cannot guarantee the spot will be filled on short notice. If we successfully fill your spot, you will receive a full refund.
No Call/No Show: If you don’t attend a class you are registered for and you don’t let us know you won’t be attending, your payment will be forfeited, as we had to pay the instructor for their time to be there.
