3 Week Duration. Suitable for Confident Beginner quilters who have fully completed 1 or more quilts.
Dive into the world of foundation paper piecing with this fun, skill-building three-session class! This series will guide you step-by-step through the precision and creative possibilities of paper piecing while creating a charming collection of nautical blocks.
Over the course of three sessions, you’ll complete a set of progressively more challenging designs. We’ll begin with a simple block to introduce essential techniques such as reading a foundation pattern, fabric placement, and accurate stitching. In the second and third sessions, you’ll build on those skills with a more detailed sailboat design that incorporates additional sections and angles.
By the end of the series, you’ll have a strong foundation in paper piecing, improved accuracy, and a set of unique blocks that can be turned into a quilt, wall hanging, or decorative project.

Please Bring:
- Fabric scraps or fat quarters:
- Blues (sky and water)
- White (sails)
- Brown and grey (boat hulls)
- Brights (sea creatures)
Our classroom scrap bin will also be available, but we cannot guarantee specific colours.
- Add-A-Quarter Plus Ruler (available for purchase in-store)
- Rotary cutter
- Glue stick (a light/low-tack glue works best)
- Thread (grey 102 is recommended)

- There are no makeup classes scheduled for this workshop, so please ensure you can attend each session.

Class Policy
Class Reminders: We do not send reminders, so please mark your calendar when you register. All classes are located on The Sewing Cafe premises at 118 Mill St., Georgetown, Ontario.
Class Cancellations: If we must cancel a class due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund of all fees paid and we will notify you as soon as possible.
Missed Classes:
Please ensure you can attend all classes in your session, as makeup classes are not offered and refunds are not provided for a missed class.
If you know in advance of your registration that you cannot make a class, sometimes with advanced notice we can make an exception. This isn’t always possible and needs to be arranged prior to your registration.
Refund Policy: Due to our limited class sizes, we kindly request that any cancellations be made with at least two weeks' notice before the scheduled class start date. This ensures we have the opportunity to offer your spot to another student.
- Full Refund: A full refund will be provided if cancellation is made at least two weeks before the class start date.
- Store Credit: If cancellation is made between two weeks and 48 hours before the class, we will apply a store credit to your account for use toward any future class.
- Last-Minute Cancellations: For cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance, payment will be forfeited unless we can fill your spot. While we will make every effort to do so, we cannot guarantee the spot will be filled on short notice. If we successfully fill your spot, you will receive a full refund.
- No Call/No Show: If you don’t attend a class you are registered for and you don’t let us know you won’t be attending, your payment will be forfeited, as we had to pay the instructor for their time to be there.
